Shou sugi ban

Practical course to learn the ancient Japanese technique of shou sugi ban or yaki sugi, for preserving wood and customizing furniture complements. Shou sugi ban is a surface treatment of wood that is achieved in several steps: the first consists of a controlled burning of the material, in a second step the piece of wood is brushed, and the third step involves finishing with furniture oil or water-based finish. Participants will be able to take home their burned piece as a memento of the experience and learn the basics of this technique and other useful notions for those who want to approach the world of wood.
Schedule: Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. and from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
