Mec Lir
Since their debut concert at one of the world's largest Celtic music festivals, the famous Festival Interceltique de Lorient in Brittany, Mec Lir have been thrilling audiences for over a decade with exhilarating performances that have turned them into true legends.
Known for their compact, lightning-fast and powerful sound, which blends Celtic tradition with uncompromising electric synths and drums, but always with the melody of the fiddle at the forefront, the Isle of Man/Glasgow band has brought its infectious and joyful energy to every corner of the folk world, from Celtic Colours in Cape Breton to the Shetland Folk Festival, from the Tønder Festival in Denmark to Schots Weekend (Belgium), the Cambridge Folk Festival in England, and sold-out, enthusiastic performances at Celtic Connections in Glasgow.
Contagious and engaging rhythms reinvent the most beautiful melodies of tradition, as in “Livewire”, their second album from 2020, which reached the top of the iTunes World Music charts: an eagerly awaited follow-up to their groundbreaking debut, “Not An EP” (2014), which was also very well received by critics.
