Lúnasa
The band, whose name is a tribute to the ancient Celtic harvest festival in honour of the Irish god Lugh, was formed in 1997, bringing together some of the most talented Irish musicians of the previous decade. From the outset, their complex arrangements and unique sound redefined the boundaries of traditional music, thrilling audiences around the world.
With over a quarter of a million records sold and more than 2,500 concerts in 36 countries, Lúnasa is one of the most influential bands in the history of Irish music, boasting major collaborations with singers Natalie Merchant, Mary Chapin Carpenter and Tim O'Brien, as well as memorable concerts at the Hollywood Bowl, Carnegie Hall in New York, the Glastonbury Festival and the Bercy Arena in Paris.
Their rich discography includes “Cas”, their latest studio album released in spring 2018, which, unlike their classic instrumental style, contains several songs sung with the participation of many guests, and “Live in Kyoto”, released in 2024: recorded live in Japan, it captures the pure energy and fantastic interaction of the band with their audience.
