THE PATH TO EREBOR | MONTELAGO WALKER

A journey to discover the lonely mountain. Overlooking the karst plateaus of Montelago and Colfiorito, Monte Pennino is a land of caves and crystalline waters. From the village of Castelraimondo, we will descend to the Pioraco paper mills along the panoramic path of Li Vurgacci (location of the 2019 Montelago trailer) and then reach Sefro and the Valle Scurosa refuge through the path of the Fairies. From there, you climb the remote slopes of the Pennino, where in the dawn of summer days you can witness the optical magic of the Fata Morgana effect. The final kilometers descend and overlook the Colfiorito plateau where the festival, arriving on Wednesday 2nd August - exclusively – a day before the festival kicks off.

Elevation gain: 800m uphill, 500m downhill

Day 2: Valle Scurosa refuge - Monte Pennino - Colfiorito
Distance: 17km
Elevation gain: 660m uphill, 500m downhill

Highest point: 1200m (Monte Acuto pass)

Equipment: (variable based on weather conditions) - trekking boots, summer trekking clothing, windproof jacket, hat, sunscreen, sleeping bag, tent, mat/mat, water (at least one litre).

Useful advice: sunglasses, snacks, camera, binoculars, head torch, swimsuit, sandals/slippers, insect repellent.

WHERE WE SLEEP
The Valle Scurosa Refuge is located at the entrance to the valley of the same name, amidst the gurgling of the small Scarsito stream which is still home to rare crayfish. Managed by the Valle Scurosa Refuge Association, the structure will host us within its mighty stone walls. Dinner and packed lunch will be organized by the Association.

TRANSPORT OF TENTS AND HEAVY LUGGAGE
For the entire duration of the trek, tents and heavy luggage will be transported at our expense to the overnight stays, in order to ensure a lighter journey.

Cost: € 140,00

N.B. The minimum number of participants for the activation of the trek is 10 people. If the established minimum quota is not reached, the organizers reserve the right to cancel the excursion, reimbursing the entire quota paid.
