City of Rome Pipe Band

TRADITIONAL SCOTTISH FOLK | Lazio, Italy
August, 8th 08:45 pm
Main Stage
Founded in 2001, the City of Rome Pipe Band, which now has about fifteen members including pipers and drummers, is the first Italian band dedicated to Scottish culture and the tradition of pipe bands. Twenty-five years of music have made it a point of reference on the national scene: alongside institutional engagements, such as the Six Nations at the Olympic Stadium, where it performs the Scottish national anthem, or ceremonies at the British Embassy, the band is the unmistakable star of folk and Celtic festivals, with appearances in Switzerland, France and Scotland, countries where it has also competed in international competitions, winning acclaim and awards. It was at the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow in 2005 that the City of Rome Pipe Band commissioned and officially registered its own tartan, designed to represent the colours of Rome, its hometown.
Back in 2003, it was their bagpipes and drums that closed the first edition of Montelago Celtic Night at dawn. After 23 years, they return to the Festival to renew that deep connection with the event and relive the excitement and energy of that unforgettable night that marked the beginning of it all.
