Seventeenth century New England. William and Katherine lead a devoted Christian life with their five children on the edge of the wilderness. When their newborn son disappears and the crops fail, the family starts to disintegrate and turns on itself, starting with accusations of witchcraft against the young daughter. The real danger, however, is the evil that hides in the nearby woods.
