TRAVELS, DREAMS AND OBSESSIONS: PRESENTATION OF NANGA PARBAT. L’OSSESSIONE E LA MONTAGNA NUDA (NANGA PARBAT. THE OBSESSION AND THE BARE MOUNTAIN, 66THAND2ND ED.)
with Orso Tosco
Walter Benjamin wrote that “The fairy, with whom one has the right to a wish, is there for everyone. Only a few, however, manage to remember the wish they expressed; thus, in the course of their life, only a few realize that it has been realized”. The protagonists of Orso Tosco's book, men and women in love with Nanga Parbat, are among the few able to perfectly remember their desire. But this conviction of theirs, this tenacious and furious love that crystallizes into obsession, filtered as it is by the demanding art of extreme mountaineering, risks blurring the line that separates certainty and mirage, truth and lies.
Writer and screenwriter Orso Tosco was born in Ospedaletti in 1982. He has published short stories, novels and poems, including Aspettando i Naufraghi (Waiting for the Castaways, 2018) and London voodoo (2022). He collaborates with L’Officina del Podcast. In Montelago he presents his latest work: Nanga Parbat. The obsession and the naked mountain (2023).
