Marina Girardi is the author of comic stories and illustrated songs. She was born in the Belluno mountains in 1979 and graduated from the Comics and Illustration course at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna. For Comma 22 publishers she released Kurden People, which earned the Komikazen Comics of Reality Award of 2009 translated into French for the L'Agrume Edition, Appennino (2010) and Tutta discesa (2013), the illustrated diary of a bicycle trip across the central Apennines. In 2011 she published a collection of illustrations, Dalle Tane (From the burrows), for Giuda Edizioni. She participated in the La mia valle (My valley) and Pasubiana projects curated by Giulia Mirandola, creating the illustrated map of the Cimbrian plateaus of Folgaria, Lavarone and Lucerne, and an artist's book on Monte Pasubio. She took part in the Turin and the Alps project curated by Stefano Riba, with a work inspired by a three-day trek around Monviso. In 2013, she was a guest of the Carnet de voyage Festival in Clermont Ferrand. She toured Italy together with Rocco Lombardi for a project called Nomadisegni: itinerant comic book workshops for adults and children, and a show of storytellers to tell the stories hidden in the landscape. With Rocco she has collaborated, among others, with the MART of Rovereto and the University of Architecture of Florence.
