Magic bags and lucky charms
Teacher Name: Alessandra Atanvarnie MacAjvar
We can find the use of magic bags in folk traditions in many parts of the world, from Native American "medicine bags" to "mojo bags" of African origin to the "little dresses" of southern Italy.
They are created from a pouch or piece of cloth containing herbs, spices and stones and tied with cord, thread or wool. They are worn around the neck, in the pocket or purse as good luck talismans or trouble-shooters.
In this workshop, participants will learn the art of making these bags and the specific use of the various elements in them, creating a personalized one to take home with them. It is recommended to bring a pen and paper to take notes.
