Cesare Catà
IN THE LAND OF PUBS AND FAIRIES:
PRESENTATION-PERFORMANCE ON IRISH MYTHS AND WRITERS
Presentation-performance with Cesare Catà
A magical journey through the fairy tales and history of Ireland, following in the footsteps of its most famous writers: the visionary bard W.B. Yeats, as well as James Joyce, Brendan Behan, Lady Gregory, J. M. Synge. The presentation-performance evokes some of the most fascinating places in Ireland, in a literary exploration of the country, its magic and its history.
One is magically transported among the people and enchanted landscapes of the Emerald Isle, among pints, Leprechauns, Fairies, Banshees and other creatures of the Good People. In an original storytelling, registers and times of bardic narration and stand-up comedy naturally alternate.
Born in Porto San Giorgio, Marche, in 1981, Cesare Catà is a philosopher and theatrical performer. Like a troubadour of the new millennium, his presentation-performances are dedicated to Shakespeare, ancient myths, folk tales and the great classics of modern literature, bringing his stories both to the theatre and unusual locations such as beaches, pubs, woods and mountains. With a PhD in Philosophy focused on the Renaissance, his training includes experiences in Honolulu, Dublin, Trier and Paris. He is the author of plays and various essays on philosophy and literature. He has translated and edited the works of Henry D. Thoreau and Pamela L. Travers, amongst others. A passionate teacher, he conducts corporate training courses and seminars for pupils of different ages, from primary school to university. He lives in the Marche region of Italy, his beloved homeland between the Adriatic Sea and Sibillini Mountains, with frequent intermittences in the island of Ireland.
Among his most recent books are Chiedilo a Shakespeare (Ask Shakespeare, Ponte alle Grazie, 2021), Una zattera per Itaca (A raft for Ithaca, Ponte alle Grazie, 2022), Tra i Pub e le Fate. Viaggio magico e letterario in Irlanda (From Pubs to Fairies. A magical and literary journey through Ireland, Il Melangolo, 2023).
